Injectables Botox
| Introduced in the late 1980s, injectables containing Botox have quickly become one of the most utilized ways to handle those little lines around the eyes and face. It is used to treat a number of medical conditions. It has been shown to help with such things as eye coordination, severe armpit perspiration, and even migraine headaches. Botox injections can be an effective option for much more than just the common crow’s feet. |
| The wrinkles on your face are created when the various nerve cells beneath the skin release a chemical called acetylcholine. Once this chemical is released, the muscles contract, and then fold the overlying skin creating wrinkles. Botox is a purified protein injectable that has been shown to disrupt the release of this chemical. Without the release of acetylcholine, the wrinkle causing contractions stop. Some of the most common areas of treatment are the brow, forehead, and crow’s feet (wrinkled area on the side of the eyes) |
| Some people are concerned that Botox is potentially harmful or may provide an unnatural appearance. Botox is a purified protein that is designed to treat a specific area of muscles. I take great care to assure that we accurately target the exact muscles that may be causing your wrinkles. As a plastic surgeon specializing in facial aesthetics I take great pride in providing natural youthful appearances through the use of my experience and skill. |
| Injectables containing Botox have been shown to alleviate nearly 80% of wrinkles, and to last for three to four months. However, a Botox treatment program is not a one shot deal. Depending on your goals, a number of injections over a specific time period may be needed. It’s best to come in and talk with me about your expectations and needs. |
| A Botox injection should always be done by a qualified and trained medical professional in a medical setting. I have completed the years of training and have the years of experience needed to make sure that only the muscles we want to affect are affected. For the patient it is a fairly straightforward process. It can be done during a routine office visit, and most of the discomfort of the injection is alleviated through a numbing cream. The treatment, depending on what needs to be addressed, can take about 20 minutes. I look forward to continuing to be a leading plastic surgeon utilizing Botox in helping you remain youthful and natural in appearance. |

Injectables Juvederm Restylane,Radiesse
| Injectables- Radiesse, Restylane, and Juvederm: Three Alternatives to Consider |
| At one time, there weren’t many options when it came to the treatment of minor wrinkles or fine lines. Today, however, three injectables, namely Juvederm® Restylane®, and Radiesse® have come onto the market with non-surgical and non-biological treatment options that most candidates should consider as a viable option. |
| Juvederm is an injectable treatment used to fill out fine to deep wrinkles, and to ultimately create a fuller, youthful appearance. It consists of gel filler, which has been shown to be safe, and effective for about 9 months at a time. Juvederm is actually injected into the middle to deep subsurface skin layers. The appearance of wrinkles disappears as the area of skin is plumped out and up. This produces an extremely natural and youthful appearance sought by both men and women. |
| Another option that is becoming more popular today is that of Restylane ®. It was created specifically to be compatible with your body’s chemistry, so the chances of adverse reactions are minimal at best. Like Juvederm, this injectable is placed in the sub-dermal region, and the results can last up to six months or more. |
| Another option is Radiesse ®. This product works a little differently to get the same basic effects. In this case, a Radiesse ® injection works below the surface to actually create a new framework or scaffolding to support the skin. In addition to adding volume, this injectable also helps to stimulate the production of collagen, giving your face a fuller, more vibrant appearance. Radiesse ® also lasts about 1 to 2 years and is a bit firmer than either Restylane ® or Juvederm®. Therefore, it may not be the best choice for every patient. As a plastic surgeon specializing in facial aesthetics I can  help you choose the best treatment to suit your needs. |
| If you are considering using one of these three injectables, it is important to consult with your doctor, before, during, and certainly after the procedure. I invite you to call my office and make an appointment today. I am confident you will find your experience at my office a pleasant and valuable one. |
