| Body Sculpting is the use of a variety of surgical techniques to change the body shape or contours. Body sculpting may or may not involve liposuction, tummy tuck (also called an abdominoplasty), or a type of body lift. As a body sculpting surgeon, I perform numerous plastic surgery procedures to improve patient’s contours. Tampa Bay area patients are often seeking the latest techniques and optimal results in body sculpting. This may include liposuction, tummy tucks, arm lifts (brachioplasty), thigh lift, etc.
I individualize every patient’s plan for the ideal body sculpting outcome for them. Using the latest methods in plastic surgery I may or may not combine liposuction with a tummy tuck whenever it is safe to do so. Some Tampa Bay area patients with massive weight loss (for instance after a gastric bypass) may also be candidates for a full body lift, thigh lift, or buttocks lift. Realize that although significant amounts of tissue may be removed with these procedures that these are NOT weight loss procedures. They are to be thought of as body sculpting and contouring procedures altering how you look in and out of clothing.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
A tummy tuck is also called an abdominoplasty. It is designed to remove the excess skin and fatty tissue that sometimes develops as women age or after having children. In addition it is to improve upon the waist line some by tightening the muscle separation that commonly widens with pregnancy.
Many Tampa area plastic surgery patients ask me if I “…remove the belly button…” when I perform a tummy tuck. The answer is NO. Frequently we reposition the tissue AROUND the belly button by pulling it down much like a window shade. In doing that I may have to make a new site for the belly button in the surrounding tissue that was pulled down. However, the belly button should remain in the same position.
