| Ultrasonic liposuction: |
| Ultrasonic liposuction is a method used to remove the fat cells from the area being treated. This method utilizes a newer technology of ultrasonic probes to break up the fat cells instead of standard probes that are merely cannulas with holes in them. The ultrasonic probe is thought to be more precise in getting rid of the fat than the old fashioned cannulas because the sonic waves break up fat and are thought to leave behind the good surrounding tissue that contributes to the skin’s contour and elasticity. The traditional cannulas would instead destroy the fat cells AND the surrounding supporting tissue alike. This latest technique of ultrasonic liposuction is one of my preferred methods for liposuction and I have achieved excellent results with this method. I often combine ultrasonic liposuction with tumescent liposuction for optimal results. Look at the before and after photo gallery for some pictures of Tampa Bay area ultrasonic liposuction patients.
Tumescent Liposuction:
Tumescent liposuction uses fluid and local anesthetic to help minimize bruising and dehydration in patients undergoing liposuction. This special tumescent solution is injected prior to liposuction and then either traditional liposuction or the newer ultrasonic liposuction can be performed. I believe this combination of ultrasonic and tumescent liposuction usually provides the best results possible.
